So I decided to actually see some sites after waking up at 2pm yesterday I headed over to the oldest Wat [I think it means temple] in Bangkok. It was amazing with gold Buddas all the way around the inside. Loads of people just chilling out there in the shade. It was very peaceful. They have meditation classes there which I may go to as I have just found out I am staying in Bangkok untill Tuesday because that it how long it takes the courier to get here with my card!
I tried to go to the Grand Palace yesterday as well, they didn't let me in with shorts on so I am wearing trousers today. There was a very nice couple from Exeter [everyone I meet seems to be from the Southwest!!] who didn't get in either so I walkedwith the to the sleeping Buddah instead. I havn't taken many photos because I don't know what the deal is with taking photos and if it is rude or not....
I got in touch with Ben yesterday on my UK phone because my Thai one refuses to work!! I bumped into a very nice women in the 7/11 who had helped me not get ripped off by the taxis on my first day. She told me that you have to dial 001 then 44 to get through to the UK, I was so excited I forgot to even thank her and just ran off to testit out. It didn't work =[. I am sure I am doing something wrong though.
Anyway, I should be meeting up with Ben and Ollie today. They are shopping on Ko Sanh [I really should find out how to actually spell it instead of guessing differently each time] Road so we will hook up, I need a hat.
I am spending far too much money, as much as 20 quid a day here!! I have heard this is one of themost expnsive places to be but it is still alot of money. To be fair I have been buying stuff each day like my lush new Ray Bans [fake, of course]. I am pretty sure I got girls ones but I am hoping no-one notices.
Ihave met loads of amazing people here already, most of whom are going to the full moon party too! Unfortunatly my STA card arrives on the 7th and the party is on the 9th so I probably wont get there in time to find accomadation :S I may not even get there in time for the party because of how long it takes to get a train ticket and I cant afford one untill I get the card, doh!! Maybe I will just use my solo card to get some cash out and buy my train ticket for the night of the 7th and pray that the card arrives on the day it is suposed to.
Maybe I wont go to the Grand Palace today after all. I think I will not go out tonight, try and make up for all the money I spent last night, see the Palace tomorrow and do the canal boat trip too, which I have been told is the best thing to do in the city, along with the Palace.
